Any movement is always better than none, but when it comes to maintaining your independence and performing every day tasks with ease, the type of movement you’re doing matters.

According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, 61% of adults aged 65 and older are limited in their ability to perform basic actions, like picking something up off the floor or reaching to grab a cereal box from the pantry.

Your everyday tasks will mimic basic exercises, Your everyday tasks are considered functional movements and being able to perform them is crucial for a long, active life.

Your functional fitness level will ensure your continued independence and freedom to do both daily living activities including self-care, as well as recreational activities you enjoy. It’s important to develop and maintain quality movement patterns. Maintaining your quality of movement patterns is especially important because if you don’t use them, you’ll eventually lose them.
